SenzoSphere
With the success of previous sphereoscopes with LED lighting on a small scale, the next step was to build a life-size, fully immersive audiovisual kaleidoscope installation that also incorporated music. My dream was to develop this installation as an art installation for the playa of Nowhere, so that I could receive an Art Grant and therefore a budget to build the installation. After successfully obtaining the Art Grant, I was able to start building the installation, called SenzoSphere. To give the best possible experience, I thought of placing the kaleidoscope on a base structure, so that six people could lie with their heads pointing to each other under the kaleidoscope. I wanted to make both the visuals on the inside and the outside of the installation look artistic. To create the strongest visuals, I decided to use the high density COB RGB – 332/m LED strips, WS2812B concentric LED rings and high quality acrylic spy mirrors. For control, I selected two Dig-Unos for the kaleidoscope, and a Dig-Quad for the LEDs of the base structure, so that I could control everything via WLED on my phone. To complete this project in time for Nowhere 2023, I enlisted several friends to help me build the installation. Luckily I finished the installation just in time and it was a great success at Nowhere. After the success at Nowhere, I took SenzoSphere to Boom Festival in Portugal, where it was also very well received.
