To distinguish myself as a visual live performer, I wanted to develop a unique LED prop. Inspired by both fidget spinners and LED Buugeng, I came up with the SpiroSpinner concept. Each SpiroSpinner has four blades, with a ball bearing in the center, which allows smooth spinning on a finger. To enable strong visual effects, I chose thin high density WS2812C-2020 – 200/m LEDS, which allowed me to install 532 pixels in each SpiroSpinner. I chose the ESP32 again for the controller, and two 2000 mAh Lipo batteries per SpiroSpinner for the power supply. I created the design in Inkscape, after which I could cut the parts out of plywood using Lightburn with the laser cutter in my studio. Ultimately, within a week I had converted my idea into the first pair of working SpiroSpinners.
